Version 1.0

Peops is the most compatible plugin in the whole emulation community, not that I agree to it but the whole emulation community does. This plugins will not make use of your 3D hardware (I mean your graphics card), therefore the graphics are not that good, but still better then VGS. Peops is basically Pete's soft GPU, but at certain stage of development it was made open source as he thought that he can no longer add new feature to it by himself. Some of the very talented programmers like Lu_Zero,Spyro and Linuzzapz are making valuable contributions to this plugin. So you can say that this plugin is not entirely of Pete.

This plugin is very suitable for you if you have a Graphics card that does not have sufficient power to render graphics with 3D Hardware acceleration. Now we will look at the configuration panel of the plugin, and discuss its aspects one by one.

This is the main configuration window, the set of options available in this plugin are very low.

1) Resolution Settings

Well the Select device settings would allow you to change you graphic device, if you have two installed. Like a PCI and a AGP graphics card installed on the same system. Before you mess with the resolution settings remember that the software renderation is usually slow, so I would recommend you to keep the values low. 800x600 is usually recommended. Now I come to color depth settings, some cards like Voodoo 2 and 3 will not be able to support 32 bit color depth. 16 bit mode is quite faster compared to 32 bit mode, therefore it is recommended that you always keep it at 16 bit. If you don't want to play in full screen mode then you have the Windowed Mode available. Enter you desired screen dimensions and you are ready to play in windowed mode. There are three Stretching modes which are used to configure the way your screen should be stretched. Keep it at full window size.

2) Frame Rate Settings

This panel would allow you to have control over the frames per second you get during the game play, if you are getting more frames then you are ought to have (50fps for pal and 60 fps for Ntsc games), then you can activate the frame limiter. Enable Frame Limit, and then select Auto Detect FPS , this would allow the plugin to select the FPS by itself, if you want to enter you own frame limit value, then select Fps Limit and enter you desired value. Frame Skipping is useful if you want to pull out some extra frames, these would give you around 5 to 10 extra fps.

3) Option

Scanlines would create a television like effect on your monitor, like other plugins you cannot set the brightness level. Since graphics using this plugins are not that good therefore scanlines are quite useful. These will not effect you game speed, so use them at your will.

Use system memory would use your system memory (i.e. the ram of your PC) as a video buffer not the Video card ram. This would slow things down quite a bit therefore it is not recommended. Stop screen saver would stop the screen savers and power management to be disabled when the plugin is in operation. (windows 95 and NT would crash if enabled).

Wait vsync will force the plugin to sync the buffer swaps with the vsync of your monitor. That will be slower, but it could fix smearing effects. You can define an hotkey to toggle the "Wait vsync option", if it's activated, the fps menu will display a "V" character.

Special Game Fixes : These options are for solving compatibility problems with certain games, the games which require that fix are mentioned with name in the menu you might want to check it out yourself.

Recording Options: If you want to record a video file of the game then you can use this option. A fewer people use it, but remember recording movie would require a lot of PC power.
